UPSC Civil Services Releases the Notification Exam 2015 – Apply Online Application for 1129 Vacancies

About UPSC

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a nationwide competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS) among others. The examination is one of the toughest examinations in India with success rate of 0.1%-0.3% with more than 9,00,000 applicants. It is conducted in two phases - the Preliminary examination, consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies and Aptitude Test), and the Main examination, consisting of nine papers of conventional (essay) type followed by the Personality Test (Interview). The entire process from the notification of the Preliminary examination to declaration of the final results takes roughly one year.

Examination Process

The Civil Services Examination is based on the British Raj - era Imperial Civil Service, as well as the civil service tests conducted by old Indian Empires such as in the Mauryan Empire, and the Mughal Empire. The Civil Services Examination of India is considered to be one of the most difficult and competitive examinations in India. On an average, 9 to 10 lakh candidates apply every year and the number of candidates appearing is roughly 4,51,602 lakh for the examination. Aspirants must complete a three-stage process, with a final success rate of about 0.3% of the total applicants.

Stage I
  • Preliminary examination - This is qualifying test held in August every year. Notification for this is published in May. Results are published in mid-October.
Stage II
  • Main examination - This is the main test, held in December every year. Results are usually published in the second week of March.
Stage III
  • Personality Test (Interview) - It is the final test and is held in April/May every year. Final results are usually announced in the month of May every year
The training program for the selected candidates usually commences on first Monday of September every year.

Age Limit: Candidates age should be above 21 years and below 32 years as on 01-08-2015 i.e., he/ she must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1983 and not later than 01-08-1994. The upper age relaxation is 05 years for SC/ ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PH candidates. Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.

Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess any degree of any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Selection Process: Selection will be based on Preliminary Examination (Objective type) & Main Examination (Written and Interview).

Application Fee: Candidates have to Pay Rs.100/- either by online or offline mode. No Fee for Female/ SC/ ST/ PH candidates.

Online Mode: Candidates can pay the prescribed fee through online mode by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ Sate Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card up to 19-06-2015 at 23.59 hrs.

Offline Mode: Candidates can pay the prescribed fee through ‘Pay by Cash’ mode, take print out of system generated Pay in slip during part II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only up to 18-06-2015 at 23.59 hrs.

Apply: Eligible candidates may apply online through the UPSC website www.upsconline.nic.in from 23-05-2015 to 19-06-2015 till 11.59 PM.

Instructions to Apply Online:
  • Before applying online candidates have to scan the copies of photograph & signature.
  • Log on through the website www.upsconline.nic.in.
  • Click on “ONLINE APPLICATION FOR VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC”.
  • Click on “Part – I/ Part – II Registration”.
  • Read the Important Instructions & fill the form with all the relevant details & submit the application form.
  • After successful registration, a unique registration ID will be allotted, note down the ID & password.
  • Now fill the personal profile, contact details, age relaxation if applicable.
  • Now fill the details of qualification, experience.
  • Now fill the details of Professional Registration, Language, Miscellaneous Module.
  • Now candidate have to choose the Recruitment Test Centre.
  • Now candidates have to upload documents in Document Upload Module
  • After uploading photograph & signature preview the ORA form and check the details carefully.
  • Now click on the submit button
  • Candidates can Pay Online using the Internet banking facility in SBI or other associated banks or can pay through Visa/ Master Debit or Credit card issued by any Bank/ Institution.
  • Here the Transaction ID & Date of Registration details will directly uploaded automatically.
  • Now pay the fee through cash at any branch of State Bank of India through the Pay-in-Slip
  • A transaction ID will be given, again revisit the website and click on the “Click here to view your Previous/ Currently active applications”.
  • Log in by registration ID & password, candidates can see “My Active Application (My draft Application)” link.
  • Now fill the details of transaction ID and Date of Transaction if paid through cash.
  • Click “Continue”, check the details of fee and submit the application.
  • Now take the printout copies of application attach the attested copies of all documents and keep it for future use.
