About Indian Institute of Packaging

The Indian Institute of Packaging is a national enterprise set up in May 1966 by the Indian Packaging and allied industry and the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce. Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is an autonomous body in the field of packaging and working under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The Institute was established on 14th May, 1966 with its headquarter and principal laboratories in Mumbai. The Institute set up its first branch office at Chennai in 1971, followed by branches at Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad in 1976, 1986 and 2006, respectively.

The Indian packaging industry has not only grown in size and volume, but also in its level of operation. In addition, globalization has also forced the Indian packaging industry to become more competitive in the global markets and also to win major contracts abroad. Today, the Indian packaging industry is growing at an annual rate of 15% as against 5-6% growth of the global packaging industry. This has also created a great demand for packaging professionals by the Indian packaging industry. In fact, packaging training and education have become the ‘Need of the Hour’ in our country so as to upgrade the overall standards of packaging at the National level.

Qualification:Graduate possessing elementary knowledge of computer operations and having proficiency in typing at the speed of 30 w.p.m. in English or 25 w.p.m. in Hindi on computers. Commerce graduate with Tally ERP background will be given preference.
