About Reserve Bank of India (RBI)

The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935 in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.The Central Office of the Reserve Bank was initially established in Calcutta but was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. The Central Office is where the Governor sits and where policies are formulated.Though originally privately owned, since nationalization in 1949, the Reserve Bank is fully owned by the Government of India.

The Reserve Bank of India is India's central banking institution, which controls the monetary policy of the Indian rupee. It commenced its operations on 1st April 1935 during the British Rule in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The original share capital was divided into shares of 100 each fully paid, which were initially owned entirely by private shareholders. Following India's independence on 15th August 1947, the RBI was nationalized on 1st January 1949.

The RBI plays an important part in the Development Strategy of the Government of India. It is a member bank of the Asian Clearing Union. The general superintendence and direction of the RBI is entrusted with the 21 - member Central Board of Directors: the Governor (Dr. Raghuram Rajan), 4 Deputy Governors, 2 Finance Ministry representatives, 10 government-nominated directors to represent important elements from India's economy, and 4 directors to represent local boards headquartered at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and New Delhi. Each of these local boards consists of 5 members who represent regional interests, and the interests of co-operative and indigenous banks.

1. Junior Engineer (Civil)

Recruitment Zone: West : 6(SC-1, OBC-1, GEN-4), South : GEN-2, Central - GEN-3

Qualification: Minimum three years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Institute or University or Board with minimum 65% of marks (55% for SC/ST/PWD) or Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University with 55% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD). At least 2 years experience for Diploma holder or at least 1 year experience for Degree holders in execution and supervision of civil construction work and/ or civil maintenance of office buildings/ commercial buildings/ residential complexes with basic knowledge of RCC design and other civil works, working knowledge of computers, experience in preparation of tenders for civil works, etc.

2. Junior Engineer (Electrical)

Recruitment Zone: East: 2 (OBC-1, GEN-1), West: 7 (ST-1, GEN-6), South: GEN-1, Central: GEN-2

Qualification: Minimum three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering from a recognized Institute or University or Board with minimum 65% of marks (55% for SC/ST/PWD) or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering from a recognized University with 55% marks (45% for SC/ST/PWD).At least 2 years experience for Diploma holder or at least 1 year experience for Degree holders in execution and supervision of electrical installations in large buildings/ commercial buildings having HT/ LT substations, central AC plants, lifts, UPS, DG sets, CCTV, Fire alarm system, etc.

Pay Scale: Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of Rs.12,370/- per month (i.e. Rs. 8,040/- plus nine advance increments admissible to Junior Engineers) in the scale of Rs. 8040 – 410 – 9270 – 500 – 11270 – 550 – 13470 – 650 – 15420 – 720 – 16140 – 990 – 20100 (20 years) and other allowances, viz. Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible from time to time. At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments for Junior Engineer (Civil / Electrical) is approximately Rs 32,905/-. Graduate candidates are eligible for two more advance increments.

Age (as on 05-06-2015): Between 20 and 30 years. Candidates born not earlier than 06/06/1985 and not later than 05/06/1995 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply.
